Abdullahi Adamu, a former governor of Nasarawa State has been revealed as consensus candidate for the All Progressive Congress’ National Chairman.

This was confirmed by the incumbent governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, on Friday night during an appearance on Channels TV’s Politics Today.

Sule made the revelation while expressing the ruling party’s readiness ahead of its national convention slated for Saturday, March 26.

“Consensus is one of the requirements. it is provided in our Constitution and it is not against the Electoral Act, ” Sule said while defending the move.

The decision follows an announcement by the Senate President Ahmed Lawan, on Thursday, who stated that the APC had agreed to produce consensus candidates.

Lawan also noted that the ruling party was set to roll out a ‘Unity List’ by Friday – a move that was affirmed by Sule to have already been done.

Adamu, who was until recently the Chairman of the APC National Reconciliation Committee will be the third substantive National Chairman of the party, after Adams Oshiomhole.
