A bail application by the Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the supreme leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra has been denied by the Federal High Court, Abuja.

Justice Binta Nyako in a ruling on Tuesday, said Kanu did not provide sufficient reasons to warrant a setting aside of its previous order.

Justice Binta particularly dismissed Nnamdi Kanu’s bail application, describing it as an abuse of court process.

Lead counsel to the embattled secession leader, Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN, had in the suit prayed the court to set aside an order made on March 28, 2019, which directed for Kanu’s arrest and continuation of his trial in absentia.

DAILY REPORT recalls that Justice Nyako had on March 28, 2019, revoked the bail Kanu application by ordering his arrest.

The judge also directed for his trial to continue in his absence.

Nyako ruled that the court gave the order because Kanu failed to appear in court after his bail was granted on April 25, 2017, and this followed an application by the prosecution.
