Recall that there had been widespread reports of Okonjo-Iweala’s emergence as Director General of the WTO after polling 104 votes ahead of South Korean Trade Minister, Yoo Myung-hee, with 60 votes.
However, an opposition of Okonjo-Iweala’s emergence by the United States delayed her announcement as the new Director General of the World Trade Organization.
