The charges, dated October 31, 2025, claim that Ngige used his official position to confer undue advantage by awarding multiple government contracts to companies and associates linked to him.

Ngige, who served as Anambra State Governor from 2003–2006 and Labour Minister from 2015–2023, was reportedly in EFCC custody following public rumours that he had been kidnapped. His media aide, Fred Chukwuelobe, confirmed his presence with the commission, stating:

“Former Governor of Anambra State and immediate past Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, is with the EFCC. More details later.”

The case is ongoing, and further updates are expected as proceedings continue.
