EFCC Arrests 7 over Internet Fraud in Oyo

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested seven suspects involved in internet fraud in Oyo State.

They were Taiwo and Kehinde Adio (twin brothers), along with five others, have been apprehended in Ibadan.

EFCC Spokesperson, Dele Oyewale disclosed in a statement on Thursday that the arrests were made on December 7 in the Apete and Apata areas of the city.

According to Oyewale, EFCC’s surveillance and actionable intelligence led to the discovery of their alleged involvement in internet-related offenses.

The Spokesman said:

The five other suspects are Jeremiah Gabi, Dennis Gomina, Adepoju Ibukun, Olabode Opeyemi, and Adewumi Ayomide.

“In the same vein, the Oyo State Police Command handed over three suspected internet fraudsters to the Ibadan Zonal Command of the EFCC on Dec. 7. They were arrested by the police while on patrol.

“Investigations by the EFCC revealed that one of the three suspects was not involved in internet fraud and was released immediately without any bail condition.

“The two suspects are Joseph Isaac Justice and Ayoola Oluwatosin.”

He added that as a result of the operation, law enforcement officials were able to recover valuable evidence, including a Toyota Corolla car, an iPhone 11, and two Samsung mobile phones.

He further stated the EFCC is currently conducting investigations and will promptly bring the suspects before the court once the process is concluded.
