BREAKING: Enugu APC Youth Leader Shot Dead | Daily Report Nigeria

Unknown gunmen have shot dead the Youth Leader of the All Progressive Congress in Enugu, Kelvin Ezeoha.

Daily Report Nigeria gathered that one other member of the APC was also shot dead by the gunmen in the Tuesday night attack.

The gunmen, who invaded an ongoing meeting being held by members of the Ward 3 Obeagu Awkunanaw, Enugu South Local Government chapter, also kidnapped a yet to be identified member of the party.

The meeting was aimed at reconciling members of the two factions of the party when the men attacked.

The gunmen numbering over seven invaded the meeting venue, killed the two party members on the spot, before whisking away one other person.

The APC in Enugu State had been in a factional crisis over leadership of the party for some years.

This is evidenced in the emergence of two parallel leadership at the recently concluded ward, local and state congresses.

While former State Commissioner for Works, Ugochukwu Agbala emerged chairman for the faction led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Geoffrey Onyeama; Mr. Adolphus Ude emerged factional chairman of another group led by the former Chairman, Dr Ben Nwoye.

A chieftain of the APC, Mr Sunday Olinya, confirmed the incident to PUNCH, saying;

“Some gunmen invaded the Enugu South LGA APC meeting on Tuesday evening while their meeting was in progress and opened fire on the party members.

“They killed the immediate past Enugu South Local Government Chairman of the party, now the incumbent state youth leader, Mr. Kelvin Ezeoha, and one other person, while a party member was kidnapped.”

The Enugu State Police Command was yet to comment on the incident as of press time.
