The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dauda Lawal has been declared winner ahead of Governor Bello Matawalle in the Zamfara governorship election held on Saturday.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Lawal governor-elect with a total of 377,726 votes, against Matawalle of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 311,976.

Lawal was announced winner of the Zamfara governorship election in Gusau, the state capital in the early hours of Tuesday.

The declaration followed mild drama over the presentation of the results for Maradun Local Government Area (LGA), where allegations surfaced that the Collation Officer, Dr Ahmed Kainuwa, had been abudcted.

However, upon arrival at state collation centre at the INEC headquarters in Gusau, Kainuwa gave the reasons for his delayed appearance.

INEC Declares Abdullahi Sule Nasarawa Governor-Elect

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has declared Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State as winner of Saturday’s governorship election.

According to results announced by INEC, Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress (APC) polled 347,209 votes to secure a second term.

Ishaya Tanko, the INEC returning officer and Vice Chancellor of University of Jos, made the declaration on Monday in Lafia at the state collation centre.

Abdullahi’s closest rival and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, David Ombugadu, came second with 283,016 votes, while Abubakar Maidoya of NNPP came third with 11,726 votes.
