Morocco on Saturday defeated Portugal in a quarter final encounter at the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The Atlas Lions, the only African team in the showpiece took the lead through a goal from Youssef El-Nesri towards the end of first-half.

A resurgence by the Selecao in the second half could not amount to much as the Lions held on to the final minute.

Morocco has mow become the first African nation to quality for the semi-final of a FIFA World Cup, and will now face either of England or France next week.
