BREAKING: National Grid Shut Down as TCN Workers Join NLC, TUC Strike

BREAKING: National Grid Shut Down as TCN Workers Join NLC, TUC Strike | Daily Report Nigeria

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) reports that its employees have intentionally powered down the national grid in alignment with the launch of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) strike.

The NLC and TUC initiated a nationwide work stoppage on May 3 in response to the Federal Government’s proposed minimum wage of N60,000.

According to Ndidi Mbah, TCN spokesperson, Labour Unions have deactivated several transmission substations, resulting in a nationwide blackout.

Mbah added that power generation stations have been forced to shut down select units of their generating plants, exacerbating the situation.
