The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has directed its members to join the indefinite nationwide strike beginning June 3, 2024.
Recall that the strike, declared by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC), protests the government’s failure to negotiate a new national minimum wage and reverse the electricity tariff hike.
In a circular dated June 1, 2024, the union’s Acting General Secretary, Comrade M J Akwashiki, instructed branch chairmen and secretaries to mobilize members for the strike, which will commence at midnight Sunday.

According to Akwashiki, all courts and judicial institutes across Nigeria are expected to shut down completely.

The Unions demand that the government agree on a new national minimum wage and pass it into law by the end of June.
They also sought a reversal of the electricity tariff hike to N66/kWh and an end to the categorization of electricity consumers into bands
