The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced the appointment of Finidi George as the new Head Coach of the Super Eagles, the senior men’s national football team.
George, a former ace winger, had been serving as assistant coach to Jose Peseiro for 20 months before taking on an interim leadership role in March.
Under his guidance, the Super Eagles secured a historic 2-1 victory over Ghana in a friendly match, ending an 18-year winless streak against their opponents.
Although the team suffered a setback in their subsequent match against Mali, losing 0-2, George’s appointment as permanent head coach is seen as a positive move for the team.
