Breaking: PDP Councillorship Candidate Shot Dead in Delta

A councillorship candidate in the forthcoming Local Government Council elections in Delta State, Hon. Ofa Eliot, has been shot dead by gunmen suspected to be suspected Fulani Herdsmen.

The deceased, a flag bearer of the People’s Democratic Party for Ward 8 in Ethiope West LGA was reportedly ambushed alongside two other councillorship candidates while returning from Asaba on Monday evening.

They had attended the screening organized by the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission exercise for candidates of the March 6 elections.

Elliot was shot dead on the spot by the herdsmen who shot sporadically, while the two others were taken hostage by their attackers.

According to Oasis Magazine, one of the occupants of the vehicle, Hon Allen of Ward 11 in Ethiope West local Government Council is said to have escaped the scene alive.

The late Elliot has been described as a young and vibrant politician by close circles. He was the immediate past supervisor of Environment for Ethiope West LGA and Manager of Oghara Hotels.

He is a younger brother to Dr. Henry Ofa, a senior PDP Chieftain in the state.
