Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari has presented the 2021 Appropriation Bill to a joint session of the National Assembly on Thursday.

Buhari, during a presentation that lasted barely one hour, stated that generating revenue to fund annual budgets has been the greatest challenge his regime has faced.

The President also stressed that supervising ministers have been ordered to ensure strict monitoring of revenue-generating agencies under their supervision.

The President emphasised that “revenue generation remains our biggest challenge.”

Buhari’s presentation reveals that the National Assembly will be funded with N128 billion in 2021, saying that the Federal Government is spending more on recurrent expenditure.

This he blamed on ghost workers and unauthorised allowances introduced by Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.

The President then ordered heads of the MDAs to get approval from the government carrying out any form of recruitment.

President Muhammadu Buhari presented a proposed budged of N13.08 trillion to the Joint National Assembly.
