Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has announced a new minimum wage of N85,000 for workers in Lagos State.

The governor made this announcement during an interview on Channels TV, stating that the new wage is a result of discussions between the government and labor unions.

Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the new minimum wage is not a competition with other states but a reflection of the state’s affordability and capacity.

He also highlighted the government’s commitment to ensuring the welfare of workers in Lagos State.

“This is not a competition, so I’m not going to say we’re paying more than some other people; it’s a function of affordability and a function of capacity,” the governor said.
