Mbeumo arrives on the back of an excellent season in which he registered 20 goals in 38 Premier League appearances.
Meanwhile, Tottenham also showed interest, but United’s third bid sealed the deal.
Mbeumo said:
“I grew up wearing this shirt. When the chance came to join the club of my dreams, I had to take it. We’re all determined to challenge for the biggest trophies.”
He is eager to learn from head coach Ruben Amorim and to link up with what he calls “world-class teammates.”
Amorim, keen to strengthen an attack that faltered last term, has already added Wolves striker Matheus Cunha and teenage defender Diego Leon.
With Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee both struggling, Mbeumo is viewed as the primary source of creativity and goals.
Over six seasons at Brentford, he tallied 70 goals and 51 assists in 242 matches, helping the club earn promotion in 2021 and finish 10th in 2024–25.
“For Bryan, the time was right to move to one of the world’s biggest clubs,” – said Brentford’s director of football Phil Giles.
United’s sporting director Jason Wilcox welcomed the new arrival ahead of their U.S. pre-season tour.
Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford is poised to join Barcelona, and Jadon Sancho, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia are expected to depart or seek loan moves.
United open their American tour this Sunday against West Ham before beginning the Premier League season at Arsenal on August 17.
