The Leader of the Burutu Legislative Arm, Hon Ekereke Odafe Bibobra, along with Akpososo Brigila (Deputy Leader) and Azigbeotu Samson (Majority Leader), have been impeached from their positions.
Their impeachment comes after 14 out of 20 members signed for their removal, citing various allegations such as gross misconduct, financial misappropriation, abuse of office, and high-handedness
According to an anonymous source privy to the development, the decision to impeach the trio was based on concrete evidence and the majority support of the legislative arm.
While Edafe was suspended for six months, the duo of Akpososo and Azigbeotu will serve a 3-month suspension term.
Apparently, the trio will continue to receive their salaries and entitlements during the course of their suspension.

In their place, Zimughan A. Martins Esq. has been elected as the new leader with Clement Wagha stepping up as Deputy Leader, while Pondy Ebipadewei Stainless was elected as Majority Leader.
Also, Goodluck Ayangor was elected as the new Chief Whip, and Miss Paul Florence voted as Deputy Chief Whip.
The new leadership led by Zimughan is expected to steer the Burutu Legislative Arm in a new direction and bring a fresh perspective to governance.
As a barrister, Hon Martins brings a wealth of legal knowledge and experience to the position, which will be crucial in ensuring that the legislative arm operates within the confines of the law.
Zimughan, in his acceptance speech, was filled with humility and a deep sense of honour as he thanked both God and his fellow members for entrusting him with the position.
Promising not to allow personal vendettas to affect his leadership, the new leader plans to reach out and mend any broken relationships among members.

He expressed his gratitude towards the Burutu Council Chairman, Chief (Dr) Julius Takeme, for bringing uncommon developments to the grassroots level.
Zimughan emphasized the importance of a harmonious and transparent working relationship between the legislative and executive branches in order to fulfil the promises made to the people who voted them into office.
He made it clear that his ultimate goal is to deliver on the dividends of democracy and heal any divides caused by past poor leadership.
On the other hand, the suspended trio are charged to return all items belonging to the Burutu Legislative Arm in their possession within 48 hours.
