Arsenal, Manchester City, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur all progressed with comfortable wins, and the full draw was revealed on the same night.
Arsenal beat Port Vale 2-0 thanks to an early strike from Eberechi Eze and a second-half finish by Leandro Trossard, while Manchester City eased past Huddersfield 2-0 with Phil Foden and Savinho on the scoresheet.
