Champions League Draw: Real Madrid, PSG Face Tough Groups

The Champions League draw threw up two huge ties — Real Madrid face both Liverpool and Manchester City — while holders Paris Saint-Germain land in a stern group with Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

Xabi Alonso’s Real host City and travel to Anfield to meet Liverpool.

Liverpool also meet Atlético Madrid, PSV and a mix of tough European tests.

City welcome Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen and Napoli to the Etihad, and they travel to Real, Villarreal, Monaco and newcomers Bodø/Glimt.

PSG’s group looks stacked: Bayern, Tottenham, Newcastle and Barcelona sit alongside Atalanta, Leverkusen, Sporting Lisbon and Athletic Bilbao.

Elsewhere, Barcelona head to Chelsea and Newcastle. Arsenal host Bayern and Atlético, and travel to Inter Milan and Athletic Bilbao.

Newcomers Kairat Almaty and Pafos bring fresh storylines after earning their spots in qualifying.

The revamped format pools all 36 clubs into a single league. Each team plays eight opponents.

The top eight progress straight to the last 16. Teams placed ninth to 24th drop into knockout-round play-offs, and the bottom 12 exit.

The league phase runs from September 16–18, with the final on May 30 in Budapest.
