Chelsea will hope to put the past knock down behind them by outshining Palmeiras in today’s Club World Cup final.

The current Champions League holders received a slap on their face 10 years ago when they had an opportunity to win the cup the very first time of their qualification.

However, Corinthians doubled their Club World Cup award by defeating Chelsea 1–0 in the final following a header from Paolo Guerrero at the International Stadium Yokohama in December, 2012.

The Blues so qualified for the tournament as at then after having emerged the Champions League winner in 2012.

That said, Chelsea are still looking forward to strengthening their reputation at home and on the continent.

Chelsea have made it to the League Cup final which will come up on the 27th of February against Liverpool.

Few days to that time, the Blues will have taken on Lille in the first leg of the round of 16 of the Uefa Champions League.

Kovacic said: “We are desperate to win this trophy. We could be the first team in Chelsea history to bring this trophy to London so we are happy that we are in such a big final.”

“We will do everything to win it on Saturday.”
