Cristiano Ronaldo, currently playing for Al Nassr, has hinted at a possible return to the UEFA Champions League. Ronaldo made this remark while helping with the league phase draw for this season on Thursday.
During the event, the former Sporting CP, Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus star was honored with an award for being the all-time leading scorer in Champions League history, with 140 goals.
When UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin jokingly pointed out that Ronaldo is no longer playing in the competition, Cristiano Ronaldo responded, “I play in the Asian Champions League, don’t forget that.” He continued, “It’s a pleasure to be here. Thank you for this amazing award; it means a lot to me. As you know, the Champions League is the pinnacle of football. I’ve had the privilege of playing in it, and it’s a great motivation. In football, you never know what’s going to happen. Let’s see what the future holds.”
