It added that safeguarding the refinery was essential for Nigerians, partners across Africa, and thousands of workers dependent on its operations.
The refinery disclosed that more than 3,000 Nigerians are employed, with only a minimal number of staff impacted by the restructuring, while recruitment remains ongoing through graduate trainee programmes and experienced hire opportunities.
Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and accountability, the management maintained that the refinery upholds international labour standards, including workers’ rights to freely decide on union membership.
The statement further stressed that the refinery exists to serve Nigerians, promote Africa’s energy independence, and create sustainable jobs.
