'Dark day for Ijaw Nation,' IYC Mourns Richman Yinbiri | Daily Report Nigeria

The Ijaw Youth Council, Western Zone, has described the demise of Late Chief Commander Richman Yinbiri as a ‘dark day for Ijaw Nation’.

This was contained in a statement signed by Comrade Doubra Okotete and Lugard Izoukumor, Chairman and Information Officer respectively of the Zone.

The e-statement sent to Daily Report Nigeria reads;

“The Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Western Zone receives with rude shock the passage of Chief Richman Yinbiri, a pillar whose footprint contributions in IYC will continue to resonate in our people’s heart and stand the test of time.

“The demise of Chief Commander Richman Yinbiri is a big blow, and indeed a dark day for Ijaw Nation because he was not afraid to speak truth to power, particularly on issues bedeviling IYC’s stability, unity and oneness.

“Chief Commander Richmond was a pillar, unifier likewise a bridge-builder whose relentless efforts and sacrifice will be missed at a time IYC needed his wealth of experience on handling issues affecting Ijaw people such as the ongoing discourse of restructuring, constitutional review, revenue derivation, PIA 2021, and the upcoming political transition of Delta State in 2023.

“We expresse our heartfelt condolence to the deceased’s family in Patani, IYC Kabowei Clan and the people of Patani in general, praying for God to give the family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” the statement added.
