The number of Ijaw aspirants contesting for the 2023 governorship in Delta State, have been pruned down to two by the leadership of the Ijaw Nation in the state.
Senator James Manager and Kingsley Otuaro were picked as Ijaw aspirants ahead of the primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party in Delta State, on the interim.
The development followed the submission of an assessment report on the aspirants by an Evaluation Committee led by Prof. Victor Peretomone.

Daily Report Nigeria gathered that the two aspirants were arrived upon following a robust deliberation of the report by critical stakeholders of Ijaw Nation, on Monday at Chief Edwin Clark’s residence, in Abuja.
Our findings also reveal that sole aspirant would be decided upon at the appropriate time by the leadership.
The stakeholders also advised a third governorship aspirant, Dr Braduce Angozi to suspend his ambition and throw his weight behind either of the aspirants to increase the chances of Ijaws and for the interest of the Ijaw nation.
The leadership further reiterated its commitment to ensuring that Ijaws produce the next governor of Delta State, reaffirming its clarion call for Delta Ijaw for Governor 2023.
It also appealed for total support from Ijaw sons and daughters and other ethnic nationalities.
