Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has accused Governor ifeanyi Okowa of marginalizing some areas in Delta State.

The Obarisi of Urhoboland particularly said that the Ijaws and Isokos of Delta South, and Ndokwas of Delta North Senatorial Districts have been deprived of development by the governor.

He stated this while declaring his intention to contest for the Delta 2023 governorship election in Effurun.

Addressing a mammoth crowd that turned up for his declaration, Omo-Agege said Okowa was unfair to the Ijaws who contribute a very large chunk to the state and country’s economy.

Agege, who gave a scorecard of his projects across the Delta Central Senatorial District, solicited with the people for an opportunity to replicate his achievements in the other senatorial districts.

He said, “I want an opportunity to bring the opportunities I have brought to Delta Central to the people of Delta North and Delta South.

“Because, what is good for the goose is good for the gander. We can’t fold our hands and allow Okowa and co to continue to marginalize us.

“If you go to Delta North today, the Ndokwa nation made up of Ukwani, Ndokwa West and Ndokwa East, they contribute so much to the economy of this country.

“All of the 13 percent derivation money we receive, is a function of their contribution to the nation’s economy.

If you go to Ndokwa nation today, there’s nothing on ground.
Okowa has continued to marginalize the people of Ndokwa nation. IA that good? Should we allow that to continue?

“If you go to Aniocha South, Aniocha North, Oshimili South, Oshimili North, it was on the back of these four local governments that Okowa rode on to become the Anioma governor. But if you go there, you will not feel the presence of Okowa’s government. Is that fair?

“If you go to Delta south, Isoko nation, they contribute so much to the economy of the country, butbif you go there, there’s nothing. All you have there is a state polytechnic that was recently upgraded to a university on paper. It is just a glorified secondary school.

“If you go to the Ijaw Nation made up of Burutu, Bomadi, Patani and Warri South West these are the people who contribute a chunk of the wealth of this country.

“If you go there today, there’s nothjnng to shown for it. And Okowa has a deputy who is from there. If you go there, there is no difference between 2019 and 2023. Is that fair?

“It is time for us to stand by our brothers from Ijaw nation to say enough is enough.”
