Former Governor of Delta State, Chief James Onanefe has been hailed by Deltans on social media for ‘masterminding’ the appointment of some members of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.
Daily Report Nigeria reports that a new NDDC board was constituted by President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday night.
The list announced by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media, Ajuri Ngelale has Chiedu Ebie as NDDC Chairman and Samuel Ogbuku as Managing Director.
Reacting to the announcement, Deltans took to social media to hail Ibori for influencing the appointments of Chiedu Ebie and Monday Igbuya as the state’s representative on the NDDC board.

Ebie, a strong ally of Ibori had served under former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as Secretary to the State Government before his sack.
He was subsequently dismissed from the Peoples Democratic Party in April 2023 over alleged anti-party activities.

Ibori’s close relationship with President Tinubu was cited as potential reason for the appointments swinging his way.

Meanwhile, some Deltans believe Ibori has used his closeness with Tinubu to hijack all juicy appointments for the All Progressives Congress in Delta State
Ibori and Tinubu both served as Governors of Delta and Lagos states respectively from 1999 to 2003 and have remained close friends since then.
Ibori’s was also fingered to have masterminded the emergence of his daughter, Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu as Committee Chairman on NDDC in the House of Representatives in July.
