- IPOB says Southeast is safe for Christmas return.
- ESN operatives & volunteers to secure communities.
- Kidnapping videos dismissed as old and recycled.
- Igbo in diaspora urged to return home and invest.
The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has appealed to Igbo sons and daughters across the globe to come home for Christmas in large numbers, saying there is no need for panic or hesitation over security concerns in the Southeast region.
In a statement released on Sunday, the group’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, said the organisation has mapped out strong security strategies for the festive rush. According to him, operatives of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), supported by local community volunteers, will be on ground to maintain peace, track suspicious movements, and prevent any form of criminal activity.

Powerful described the Southeast as “one of the most peaceful zones in Nigeria today,” insisting that a narrative of chaos only survives through politically-sponsored propaganda. He argued that recent viral videos portraying abductions and unrest were either exaggerated or stale footage recycled to scare travellers away.

“Return home for the festive season and consider investing in the region. Your safety is guaranteed. We wish travellers a peaceful Christmas and safe journeys,” IPOB assured.
The spokesperson also cautioned the public to beware of fake ESN social media accounts, noting that real field operations are never broadcast online. He accused certain elements in government of trying to destabilise IPOB’s structure, efforts he said have consistently failed.
IPOB reiterated its commitment to continued protection of Igbo communities while maintaining its long-standing advocacy for Biafra self-determination.
