Don’t expect passage of 2025 budget before Jan 31 – Senate

Nigerians may have to wait till January 31 for the passage of the N49.7 trillion 2025 budget, the Senate revealed yesterday.

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Publicity, Senator Yemi Adaramodu, disclosed that budget defence by ministries, departments, and agencies of the federal government would commence on January 7.

Adaramodu said, “Joint Committees of Senate and House of Representatives will start meeting with MDAs on January 7. Final report will be laid on 31st January.”

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had presented the budget to a joint session of the National Assembly on December 18, urging lawmakers to expedite its passage.
