Drama As Enugu Community Invokes Deities to Curb Hospital Equipment Theft

A community in Enugu State, Ogurute-Uno, has taken a spiritual approach to address the recurring theft of equipment from the newly constructed Ogurute-Uno General Hospital.

 

The hospital, inaugurated in February 2023, has been plagued by frequent theft, prompting the community to invoke deities to protect the facility.

A viral video clip shows community members gathered in front of the hospital, invoking the deities to curse those responsible for the thefts.

The clip, uploaded on Facebook on June 20, captures the frustration and desperation of the community in the face of repeated equipment theft.

“We are people of Ogurute-Uno. We have come here for no other reason apart from the issue of this general hospital built by the government. “They (government) have brought every necessary medical equipment for treatment, including beds, television sets, solar batteries, solar panels, and others,” the man said in Igbo language.
