The Ozalla Development Union, ODU, in Enugu state’s Nkanu West local government area, has expressed concern about the kidnapping and disappearance of one of the community’s traditional rulers, HRH Igwe Don Nwochi of the Etiti-Ozalla autonomous community, on December 24, 2021.

The community said it has been plagued by numerous security breaches, including the murder of one of its mothers, late Mrs Monica Okwuibe, in Anambra state, and the murder of a breadwinner, Mr Sunday Igwe, on a Monday morning in Agbani Road, Enugu.

Following a critical/emergency meeting at Amigbo village square, Chief CNN Nwagbara, President General of ODU, stated that there have been major security issues in Ozalla, such as burglary, housebreaking, and stealing, caused by the increasing status in the urban community.

“Our resolution is that all criminal elements leave Ozalla, and if any Ozalla indigene is involved in all of these crimes, we are calling on that person to repent or face legal consequences.”

The kidnapping of one of our traditional rulers, the Igwe of Etiti-Ozalla, on December 24, 2021, is the second reason for the emergency meeting.

“We made efforts, and everything that was required to be done, but Igwe has not been released since December 24th, and so we are praying and appealing to all concerned, particularly our Governor, the police commissioner, and all concerned to come to our aid to see that Igwe Don Nwochi is released from his captors.

“Third, we are beleaguered by the death of our dear mother, Monica Okwuibe, who is the mother of our daughter, Benita Anyaegbunam, nee Okwuibe, who was married to an Obosi man who incidentally died, and the lady was accused of having a hand in the death of the husband and the lady made efforts to deny and promised to take an oath of innocence, but they continued to threaten her until she was

“They intended to kill her, but her mother was the one who died, and one of the co-wives of the man who gave them shelter was also murdered.”

So we are very concerned, and we are certain that Igbo land and Nigeria have not turned into an animal kingdom in which one will become enraged and kill the other No! If they want anything from her, they should go through the proper channels.”

Nwagbara urged security agencies, the government of Anambra state, and legislators of all stripes to ensure that Mrs. Okwuibe’s murder is brought to justice.

“We are requesting justice on behalf of Benita and Monica Okwuibe.”

Monica died, but what crime did she commit simply because her daughter married a man who died unexpectedly? Is this the reason they committed such a heinous crime against these women? As a result, Ndiozalla is demanding justice.”

The ODU demanded an investigation and justice for the death of Sunday Igwe, a breadwinner for his family, who was shot in Enugu on a Monday when it was reported that unknown gunmen shot sporadically along Agbani road.

‘We are requesting that our Governor come and help this family who cannot return to Lagos.’ Nobody can support the people he has been supporting,” Nwagbara pleaded.
