DTHA: Alapala Takes Historic ‘Thank You Tour’ to Burutu Constituency I

The member-elect for Burutu Constituency 1 in the Delta State House of Assembly, Alapala Anthony Ebitonmo, has concluded his ‘Thank You Tour’ across communities in the constituency.

Alapala and members of his campaign organization kick-started the appreciation tour from Ekeremor and Yeye communities on Monday, April 3.

The tour was in fulfilment of Alapala’s promise to the people during his campaign and consultation processes.

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) had promised to return to the people in a similar fashion to say ‘thank you’ if voted into office.

Daily Report Nigeria reported that Alapala was declared winner of the March 18 state assembly elections ahead of the incumbent member of the constituency, Asupa Forteta of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Alapala polled 7296 votes ahead of Asupa, who scored 6416 votes to come in second place.

During the tour, the revered philanthropist expressed gratitude towards the electorates for entrusting him with their votes and for being part of the process.

The member-elect reiterated his commitment to ensuring quality representation once he is sworn-in on June 9.

Alapala also promised that his tenure will deliver the obtainable dividends of democracy and good governance to his people.

He said;

“I’ve only come to say ‘Thank You’ for voting for me. I assure you, that my promises to you will be fulfilled, and we will even do more with the help of God.”

Alapala added, “You have done your part by voting for me, it is my turn to repay your trust in me.”

On their part, the people expressed surprise at Alapala’s gesture, describing it as a first-in-history scenario.

They also lamented how previous occupants of the office barely notice their existence as constituents, let alone fulfilling campaign promises.

“This historic. We have never seen or heard of this gesture anywhere else, let alone Burutu Constituency 1. We’ve always been taken for granted in the past. Once elections are over, that is it,” a constituent in Ward 11 said.

“People who don’t even fulfil their campaign promises, nobody expects them to show gratitude for voting them in?,” another constituent in Ward 7 said with sarcasm.

In Ward 4, the people expressed optimism that a new phase has begun in the constituency.

“This is a sign that something new is upon us. With just this gesture, we are convinced that we voted the right candidate. Go and succeed,” they said.

In Ward 10, Alapala’s thank you tour was attributed to a sign of good representation.

“Gratitude is a sign of many things. For us, this is a sign of quality representation. You just multiplied our trusts for you,” they said.

In Ward 8, Alapala was described as ‘the King the cap fits’, while in Ward 9, the people said this was the first time the felt the signs of “having a member in the state assembly.”

The entire constituency reiterated their commitment to the the member-elect having a successful tenure in office, while urging him to fulfil his campaign promises.

Highlights of the campaign include the awarding of a scholarship to a physically-challenged electorate, Blessing Godfrey in Ogbeingbene Ward 9, fulfilment of N300,000 pledge to Obotebe Ward 10, and a N400,000 startup capital to a woman in Enekorogha, Ward 4.

Among the over communities visited are; Ekeremo, Yeye, Sokebulou, Yokri, Obotobo 1&11, Ogulagha, Youbebe, Agip, Awalagbene, Obuburu, Forcados, Odimodi, Kandanghan, Agedi, Okibo Zion, Ofougbene, Burutu, Ekorogbene, Obotebe, Labolouseigha, Opuapale, Oyangbene, Eseimogbene, Akparemogbene, Egolegbene, Newtown, Bobougbene, Ayakoromo, Oboro, Okpokunou, Edegbene, Dunugusu, Enekorogha, Egodo, Agbodobri, Ogbeingbene, Kiagbodo, Bikorogha, Okrika, Gbekebor, Funkoro (mile 15), Aseyaigbene, among others.
