Ebiwana Congratulates Winners of Edo Guber Primaries, Calls For Ijaw Deputies

The Chairman of Ijaw Youths Council, Olodiama Clan, has extended congratulations to winners of the governorship primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Labour Party (LP) in Edo State.

Ebiwana, a contender for the IYC Western Zone Chairmanship seat, lauded the steadfastness of the PDP, APC and LP candidates following their victories at the primaries.

In a terse statement on Wednesday, the youth leader also called for the parties to adopt Ijaw indigenes in the state as running mates ahead of the September 21 poll.

He noted that Ijaws in Edo state played active roles before and during the primaries, and as such, deserve to be considered for the deputy positions.

He said, “I want to use this medium to congratulate winners of the governorship primaries for the PDP, APC and LP in Edo State.

“I want to also draw the attention of the three political parties carry Ijaws along in its affairs by considering our sons as running mates.

“It is crystal clear that the Ijaws are key players in the politics of Edo state, and are deserving of the office of the deputy governor of the state.

“Our people cut across and occupy major Local Government Areas and as a major ethnic nationality in the state, should be given a sense of belonging politics wise,” he added.

Daily Report recalls that at the end of the governorship primary in Edo state, Senator Monday Okpebholo emerged gubernatorial candidate of the APC, while Asue Ighodalo won the PDP ticket ahead of incumbent deputy governor, Philip Shuaibu.

Meanwhile, former Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) President, Olumide Apata won the ticket for the LP even as Nollywood actor, Paul Obazele secured that of the Action Democratic Congress (ADC).
