The incident occurred in Uhe community, Igueben Local Government Area, according to preliminary police findings. Investigators said the suspect allegedly assaulted the teenager with a stick on December 5 at around 7:00 p.m., which resulted in the boy’s death.
Police action followed credible intelligence received on December 6, prompting operatives, led by the Divisional Police Officer, to visit the family residence and verify the allegation. The body was reportedly buried secretly by the suspect within the compound.
Vital information came from the deceased’s grandmother, who also resides in the household. The 82-year-old woman assisted police in uncovering the crime scene.
After completing administrative procedures, officers exhumed the grave, photographed the scene, and recovered the stick allegedly used in the assault as evidence.
The Edo State Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, has ordered the case transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department for a comprehensive investigation and prosecution.
ASP Ikoedem urged residents to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities promptly, and cautioned against all forms of violence.
