..Calls for Nnamdi Kanu’s Release

Elder statesman and leader of the Southern and Middle-Belt Leaders Forum (SMBLF), Edwin Clark, has revealed how he and other leaders secured the release of Muhajid Asari Dokubo, leader of the Niger Delta Volunteer Force, during the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

In an interview with The Sun, Clark called for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), citing the similar circumstances of Dokubo’s case.

“Asari Dokubo was being tried for the same offence. I gathered our leaders and led them to meet with President Obasanjo, who was in power at that time,” Clark said.

Clark explained that Obasanjo advised them to pursue a bail option, which they did, with one of their leaders, Alabo Graham Douglas (now deceased), providing his title deed as collateral.

“That’s how we were able to free Asari Dokubo. And since the President was aware of what we were doing, that was the end of the case. It was abandoned,” Clark revealed.

Clark emphasized that Kanu’s case is similar and deserves the same consideration. “Other agitators with similar crimes were also set free. So, Kanu should be released,” he said.
