EFCC Arrests Former FIRS Chairman, Fowler Over Alleged N5bn Fraud | Daily Report Nigeria

Former chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Babatunde Fowler, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over the alleged involvement in a N5billion fraud committed during his tenure.

Fowler, is currently being interrogated at the EFCC Lagos office.

Fowler was sacked by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019, following a query for worsening tax revenues since 2015.

He was accused of bankrolling extravagant concerts and parties in Lagos, poor corporate governance structure and audit at the FIRS, lavish lifestyle, diversion of funds, high handedness in office, corruption and other related offences.
