The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a prominent Nigerian lawyer, Mike Ozekhome, over his alleged involvement in a disputed property case in the United Kingdom.

Ozekhome, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), was arrested shortly after a Federal Capital Territory High Court struck out a forgery charge against him. The charge, filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, accused Ozekhome of presenting forged documents to support his claim of ownership of a property in London.

The property in question is located at 79 Randall Avenue, London NW2 7SX, and is the subject of a dispute filed at the UK First-tier Tribunal (Property Chamber) Land Registration. The EFCC alleges that Ozekhome presented forged documents, including a Nigerian international passport, to support his claim.

The Attorney-General’s office had taken over the case and applied to withdraw the charge, citing the need for more time to review and consolidate issues involving different investigating agencies. The court struck out the charge, but the EFCC has now arrested Ozekhome.
