Engage in Positive Protests, Agbonu Charges IYC | Daily Report Nigeria

The paramount ruler of Ogulagha Kingdom, Burutu local government area, HRM Elder Captain Joseph Timiyan, has charged Ijaw Youths to engage in positive protests.

The traditional ruler gave the charge when members of the Mobile Parliament of the IYC paid him a courtesy call at his palace in Obotobo I.

Agbonu, who referred to the parliament led by its Spekaer, Comrade Bob Collins Igetei, as his children, noted that protests when embarked on in a positive light, can result in one achieving their demands.

He said the Niger Delta region has long outlived the era it was notorious for being troublesome, saying peaceful, strategic and result oriented approaches should be the new normal.

Charging the youths to always consult for the greater good of Ijaws before taking action, Agbonu said;

“if you must protest, engage in positive protests. A negative protest damages, while a positive one improves.

“With positive protests, we can demand whatever we want from anybody and achieve it.

“Before you carry out any action, be it positive or negative, make enough consultations before embarking.

Describing the entourage as a “brave, humble and intelligent” young people, the Ebenanawei said;

“Continue like this and we’ll record progress no matter how minute. We’re definitely better than we were.”

In his response, Comrade Igetei assured the traditional ruler that the parliament will always be of good conduct under his watch.

Commenting the paramount ruler for his fatherly advise, Mr Speaker noted that parliament will always open its doors to enjoy from his wealth of wisdom.
