Kazeem Ogunleye netted the decisive goal as Nigerian champions Enugu Rangers secured a 1-0 victory over Angola’s Sagrada Esperanca in the first leg of their CAF Champions League second preliminary round clash in Uyo on Friday.
Ogunleye’s strike came late in the match, finding the back of the net just 12 minutes before the final whistle.
Despite the win, Fidelis Ilechukwu’s team continued to show difficulty in converting chances, a problem that also plagued them in their previous round against US Zilimadjou of Comoros.

The second leg of the tie is scheduled to take place at the Estadio 11 de Novembro in Luanda on Sunday, November 22. Enugu Rangers will only need a draw to advance to the prestigious group stage of the tournament.
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s other CAF Champions League contender, Remo Stars, were knocked out in the first round by Morocco’s AS FAR.
