Patrice Motsepe, President of the Confederation of African Football, has encouraged Nigeria to consider bidding for the FIFA World Cup. He also confirmed that Nigeria’s President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will attend the 2023 AFCON final.
The final match between Ivory Coast and Nigeria will take place on Sunday, February 11, at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan.
Speaking at a press conference in Abidjan, Motsepe responded to questions about Africa hosting the FIFA World Cup, suggesting Nigeria as a potential host. He mentioned plans to discuss this possibility with President Tinubu during the AFCON final on Sunday.
The CAF president said:
“Nigeria must put in a bid. The Nigerian president (Bola Tinubu) is coming to watch the final on Sunday. I will have a conversation with him about it.”
