Chelsea winger, Callum Hudson-Odoi has caught up with Arjen Robben’s record as the Blues’ youngest player to register ten assists in the Premier League.

The 21-year-old won a penalty for Chelsea against Aston Villa on Boxing Day to register his 10th Premier League assist since his debut in 2018.

Meanwhile, Robben registered nine Premier League assists the first season he moved to Stamford Bridge in 2004 at the age of 20.

Subsequently, he recorded another ten League assists the following season.

However, this record was overhauled on Sunday’s league match when Hudson-Odoi grabbed penalty for his side to have a 1st-half equalizer against the Villans who were later trounced 3-1.

The Chelsea product, had his debut in January, 2018 but has since not been able to carve out a place for himself in the Blues’ attack.

In recent months however, the England international has flourished under Thomas Tuchel who arrived Stamford Bridge in January to replace Lampard.

Similarly, the former PSG boss was moved by Hudson-Odoi’s outstanding display in Chelsea’s victory over Stephen Gerrard’s men last weekend.

Tuchel said at his post-match press conference: “I think he was brilliant [against Aston Villa]. ”

“I was never frustrated with him today. He had one bad decision under pressure when he tried to do a back-heel in front of the coaching staff, maybe there was an easier solution to escape the pressure with an easy pass, there was a clear pass to NG [N’Golo Kante]. But I was never frustrated with him today.”

“Hakim Ziyech has only one training session, Callum had two and a half, so we decided to put him in.”

He added: “He was involved. He overcame some obstacles today and some adversity. There was a big game, a very important game for him.”

“Also, we took a risk because he only just came back from Covid.”
