Head coach of the Super Eagles, Eric Chelle, has reportedly requested a new monthly salary of $100,000 to continue in his role following Nigeria’s third-place finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Chelle’s demand comes on the back of Nigeria’s impressive campaign at the Africa Cup of Nations hosted in Morocco, where the Super Eagles secured the bronze medal. Although the team fell short of winning the title, many football analysts and fans have described the outing as a strong and encouraging performance.
The team’s showing has intensified calls for the federation to secure Chelle’s long-term future, with supporters arguing that continuity could help Nigeria build on its recent progress.
Chelle was appointed head coach in 2024 on a two-year contract, meaning he still has one year remaining on his current deal. However, discussions over improved terms are said to be ongoing.
Amid the negotiations, the coach has been linked with a possible move to Olympique de Marseille, with reports suggesting the French club is considering an 18-month contract offer.
In addition, several African football federations are believed to be keeping a close watch on developments, following Nigeria’s strong run at the continental tournament.
For now, the decision rests with the NFF as fans wait to see whether Chelle’s salary demands will be met or if the Super Eagles could be heading for another change on the bench.
