Manchester City striker Erling Haaland continued his impressive Premier League form by setting a new record with his goal against Brentford.

Haaland scored twice in the first half, giving City a 2-1 lead after they had fallen behind to Yoane Wissa’s header just 22 seconds into the match.

These goals were Haaland’s eighth and ninth of the season, marking a significant milestone.

He has now surpassed a 13-year-old record previously held by former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney.

Rooney had scored eight goals in a team’s first four Premier League games during the 2011/12 season.

Erling Haaland had already set a record for the most goals scored by a player in a team’s first three Premier League matches, with seven goals, following his hat-trick against West Ham.
