Ex-Lover killed by Football Coach in Akure | Daily Report Nigeria

A 45-year-old football coach named Bankole Oginni has been arrested by the Ondo State Police Command for allegedly killing his former lover, also 45 years old, after inviting her to his home.

The suspect, popularly known as Honourable Kole, invited the woman to his residence in Akure, located in Akure South Local Government Area of the state.

According to reports, the suspect poured hot water on the woman’s body and killed her in his living room.

The deceased’s intestines had been removed, and her hands and legs were tied together with rope, indicating that she may have been killed with hot water before her intestines were removed.

The daughter of the deceased waited for her mother’s return from her former lover and eventually traced her to the house, only to find her lifeless body on the floor of the suspect’s living room. 

She immediately reported the case to the police.

Upon investigating the scene, security operatives found materials like a sharp knife and a sack beside the deceased, suggesting that the suspect had planned to dismember her body and pack it in the sack.

The football coach was arrested by the police and is currently under interrogation.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Funmi Odunlami, confirmed the incident, stating that the deceased and the suspect were lovers who resided in different locations before the tragic event.

The young girl, the deceased’s daughter, recounted that her mother’s former lover, Bankole Oginni, called and invited her over to his place at Oke aro area of Akure. 

After her mother didn’t return for several hours and her phone was switched off, she went to Oginni’s house and discovered her mother’s lifeless body with her hands and legs tied and her body opened with missing intestines and signs of hot water burns.

The police took action swiftly and arrested the suspect. 

He is now in police custody, while the deceased’s body has been deposited at the morgue.
