Fake Soldier Arrested, While Trying to Secure Release of His Friend in Police Custody | Daily Report Nigeria

A fake soldier has been arrested by the operatives of the Niger State Police Command while trying to secure the release of his friend, who was held in the custody of the police.

The impersonator, identified as Emmanuel Dominic, 24, was arrested by operatives attached to the Maitumbi Division of Tungan area, Minna.

Confirming the arrest, the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, in a statement released on Wednesday, November 17, said the suspect was dressed in Nigerian Army camouflage, and went to the Police Division on October 27, parading himself as a soldier.

DSP Abiodun also said that the suspect claimed to be a soldier with the service number 05313 attached to TRADOC, Minna to secure the release of his friend in police custody.

“During interrogation, the suspect was discovered to be a fake soldier and subsequently arrested and later confessed that he had been a barrack boy of Army barrack Minna. He also claimed that the uniform in his possession belongs to his late father whom he said was a soldier,” Abiodun stated.

 

Some items recovered from the suspect include: one wooden carved gun, two axe, one jackknife, two kit bags, two OG green trousers, one army camouflage vest, shirt, boot, face cap, and a walking stick.

DSP Abiodun also added that the case is under investigation, and the suspect would be arraigned in court immediately the investigation is concluded.
