Messi, who wasn’t expecting the news of his departure, made it known that he will now consider other offers. PSG is now showing interest with progress in negotiations to sign Messi. PSG believes they have a good chance in the competition pool.

On Thursday night, on the same day that Messi returned to Catalonia following his post-Copa America holiday, Barca announced that Messi is to leave the Nou Camp and conclude his 21-year association with the La Liga giants. Messi departs Barcelona after an association of over two decades with the club.

Messi thought everything was agreed and ready to go forward – but instead, Liga’s executive board made it impossible to register him in line with La Liga’s financial rules. Speaking in a press conference on Friday morning, President Joan Laporta laid out the deep financial mess that has meant they cannot afford a new contract for the 34-year-old.

Messi had no plans of leaving; he wanted to stay in Barcelona. He was not even considering any other club this summer.

Messi and his father, manager, are now looking for another club interested in having Messi on their team. In a few days to come, they will be ready to receive offers.
