Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has said that the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Iyorchia Ayu deserves to be suspended from from the party.
Wike also faulted the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) on the suspension of former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, over allegations of anti-party activities.
Addressing journalists in Port Harcourt on Thursday, Wike noted that the PDP NWC does not have the power to suspend Fayose.

He further faulted the decision of the NWC to summon Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State to appear before a disciplinary committee over alleged anti-party activities.
Wike insisted that Ortom “will not appear before any so-called disciplinary committee.”
Instead, Wike singled out Ayu for suspension, citing the PDP Chairman’s refusal to obey the constitution of the party on zoning.
Wike said Ayu also failed to deliver his polling unit and ward for the party during the general elections, adding that the PDP national chairman has just started “the mother of all political wars”.
Daily Report Nigeria reports that the PDP had in a statement by the its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, sanctioned Fayose; ex-Senate President, Pius Anyim; Prof Dennis Ityavyar; and Aslam Aliyu for “anti-party activities”
According to the statement, the suspension takes effect from Thursday, March 23, 2023.
