Former Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Ayodele Fayose, has delivered a scathing assessment of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), warning that the party is heading for a humiliating defeat in the 2027 general elections due to internal disunity and abandonment of key leaders.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, Mr Fayose predicted the PDP would finish fourth in the next elections, claiming the party has already lost control in several states.

“Today, I am telling you the PDP will come fourth in the general elections. In most states, they are already compromised,” he declared.

Mr Fayose, a member of the influential but defiant G5 bloc, also lashed out at the PDP National Working Committee, accusing the leadership of deliberately undermining and excluding founding members like himself.

He cited the recent National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party, which he refused to attend, as evidence of his displeasure, despite receiving a formal invitation.

“They have eased out so many leaders. It’s good for them, but let me remind you, I was part of the G5,” he said.

Describing the PDP as a “carcass”, Mr Fayose lamented the wave of high-profile defections from the party’s ranks.

“Presidential candidate has left, Vice Presidential candidate has left, senators have left, governors have left,” he noted.

Despite his unflinching criticism, Mr Fayose maintained that he has not left the PDP — but left the door open to joining other parties if necessary.

“I can join APC, ADC or Labour Party,” he said bluntly.
