- Documents released to support his allegation.
- Fayose claims only ₦4.5bn reached Ibadan explosion victims.
- He dares Makinde to take legal action.
Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has released documents he claims show that Governor Seyi Makinde received ₦50 billion from the Tinubu-led federal government following the Ibadan explosion, insisting he would not make allegations he cannot prove.
Fayose had earlier accused the Oyo State governor of collecting ₦50bn as federal intervention funds for victims of the January 2024 Ibadan explosion. Makinde, however, dismissed the claim and challenged Fayose to present evidence.

Responding to the challenge, the former Ekiti governor released what he described as official documents, saying Nigerians deserve to know the truth.
According to Fayose, only ₦4.5bn was reportedly disbursed to victims, while the balance was allegedly diverted for political purposes, including Makinde’s presidential ambition, a move he claims has worsened internal crises within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)
“Even though it is not in my nature to go public with official government documents, I had to do this so Nigerians will know who is saying the truth and who has not been sincere with the people of Oyo State,” Fayose said.

He further criticised Makinde for selectively discussing his private meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on national television without full disclosure.
“If you choose to reveal part of what transpired in a private meeting with the President, it becomes the duty of well-meaning Nigerians to provide full disclosure,” he added.
Fayose went on to challenge Makinde to sue him, warning that more documents relating to federal intervention funds received by Oyo State could be made public.
“I challenge Governor Seyi Makinde to sue me. There are proofs of other intervention funds received from Tinubu’s administration which were not disclosed to the people,” he said.
Reaffirming his stance, Fayose declared: “My name is still Ayo Fayose. I don’t say what I can’t prove.”
