FG Increases Salaries Of Military, Police

FG Increases Salaries Of Military, Police | Daily Report Nigeria

The Federal Government has approved a salary increase of 25-35 per cent for police officers, armed forces personnel, public servants, and others.

According to the National Salaries, Incomes, and Wages Commission (NSIWC), the approved increase applies to civil servants on six consolidated salary structures, effective January 1, 2024.

According to NSIWC, The affected structures include the Consolidated Public Service Salary Structure, Consolidated Research and Allied Institutions Salary Structure, and others.

Its Head of Press, Emmanuel Njoku explained that the outlined structures included:

“Consolidated Public Service Salary Structure, Consolidated Research and Allied Institutions Salary Structure Consolidated Police Salary Structure, Consolidated Para-military Salary Structure, Consolidated Intelligence Community Salary Structure, and Consolidated Armed Forces Salary Structure.”

The development follows earlier increases for tertiary education and health sector workers.

Also, pensioners on the Defined Benefits Scheme will receive increases of 20-28 per cent effective January 1, 2024.

Civil servants had been seeking a salary raise, with negotiations resulting in the approved 25-35 per cent increase.

Meanwhile, labour unions continue to push for a N615,000 minimum wage increase, citing rising inflation and the high cost of living.
