The Federal Government has secured a $163 million loan from the African Development Bank (AfFB) to bolster wheat production in the country.
Vice President, Kashim Shettima announced during a visit to the Emir of Argungu, Sumaila Mera, where he paid condolences to the Emirate and the family of the late Sheikh Abubakar Giro on Sunday.
Shettima pointed up the administration’s unwavering commitment to fulfilling its promises, particularly in the agricultural sector.
He said:

“We have obtained $163 million loan from the African Development Bank to support wheat production. The scheme would be launched soon.”
He further assured that the government will prioritize food security.
The Vice President said:
“We need 10,000 hectares of land in Kebbi State. But the scheme would be well executed in Jigawa State with a cultivation of 50,000 hectares of land to boost wheat production.”
The Emir of Argungu, on the other hand, thanked President Bola Tinubu and the Vice President for their support, while also offering prayers for the unity and progress of Nigeria.
