The Federal Government of Nigeria has unveiled the National Single Window (NSW) project, a groundbreaking initiative designed to revolutionize the country’s trade landscape and spur economic growth.
Daily Report Nigeria reports that the project, launched by Finance Minister Wale Edun on Wednesday, will simplify and streamline trade processes, eliminate bottlenecks, and promote transparency, positioning Nigeria for increased global competitiveness.
The NSW Project will create a centralized digital platform where traders can easily access and submit information related to import and export procedures, significantly reducing the time and cost associated with trade transactions.
It will be spearheaded by the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA).

The project’s secretariat, housed within the FIRS, will serve as a central hub for coordination and oversight, ensuring seamless collaboration among key stakeholders from various government agencies.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Finance signed by Mohammed Manga, Director, Information and Public Relations, the agencies include the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), and National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
It added that the launch of the NSW Project aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s comprehensive economic reform agenda, which seeks to create a more conducive business environment and attract foreign investment by simplifying trade procedures and reducing bureaucratic hurdles.
The three-day kickoff workshop brought together stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the NSW Project.
Furthermore, the workshop will culminate in a detailed action plan outlining the next steps and timelines for the project’s full implementation.
